Perspectives on the Past and the Present – A Multilingual History and Radio Workshop
(September 1, 2021 to March 1, 2023)
The history workshop offers people with experiences of flight and migration the space to deal intensively with the topics of National Socialism and the Holocaust. However, the history workshop will also deal with the consequences of National Socialism up to the present day and how remembering it today can look like.
By the end of this year, we want to form a group of ten people who will then work together for a period of one year. The project is specifically aimed at people with a migration background from different countries who live in Halle and the surrounding area.
In the course of the project you will visit different places of history in Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. You will also document (the) history yourself. For this we talk to contemporary witnesses about their memories and experiences. During the history workshop you will also learn how to make radio. Radio reports and interviews are our tools for researching history. In this way, the results of the workshop can also be heard on the radio by anyone who is interested.
You don’t have to speak and understand German well, because during the project there will always be interpreters present.
There are four phases in total:
The project is supported by the Foundation “Remembrance, Responsibility and Future” (EVZ). The project was supported by EVZ Foundation.
